Publisher's Description
This book intends to create a standard of practice for spiritual care. It helps us to know how to start, where to focus, how to respond and how to communicate our spiritual care. It focuses on creating a standard of care rather than accumulating knowledge on conditions or situations that can change from case to case. It focuses on who we are for people more than what we do for them.

The wisdom contained in these pages will be of enormous use to a wide range of spiritual caregivers—from students, to chaplains, to pastors. In clear, readable prose, Rev. Kenny offers a roadmap for an effective, grace-filled practice of spiritual care.”
“For several decades Dennis Kenny’s practical and elegant model of spiritual assessment has shaped the work of countless clinical pastoral educators. Now he presents his model to the community of spiritual care professionals. His work is a much-needed corrective to the limited, and at times harmful, models of care practiced by well-meaning spiritual carers. Read this book—your patients and clients deserve the type of care you will find in these pages.”
“Transformation of healthcare will only begin when we recognize that spirituality is central to healing. A new standard for healthcare means we elevate and equate spiritual care team members with clinical leaders, environmental services, and food service. All bring healing to healthcare. Reverend Kenny will revolutionize healthcare by making spiritual care a central and critical standard in healthcare.”
