Jesus is not legend. He is Lord—and the archaeological record bears this out. In an age of growing skepticism, many people are demanding hard evidence before believing anything is true. This is especially true when it comes to Jesus and the Bible. Skeptics claim the Gospels are pious legends, faith-based fiction, or the mythologized memoirs of early Christian communities. In The Jesus Discoveries, bestselling author and biblical scholar Jeremiah J. Johnston, PhD, discusses ten historic discoveries that show how nothing could be further from the truth. These discoveries affirm the biblical record regarding who Jesus said he was, when and where he lived, his claims and aims, how his life ended, and how that end wasn't the end of his story. Discoveries include: Shroud of Turin: Evidence of Jesus' resurrection from the dead The Magician's Cup: Evidence of Jesus' reputation as a healer James Ossuary: Evidence of the existence of Jesus' brother James Writings of Critics: Evidence of the early beliefs about Jesus Pilate Stone / Ring: Evidence of Roman governor Pilate's existence King of the Jews inscriptions: Evidence this tagline was applied to Jesus Magdalen Papyrus: Early church testimony to the life of Jesus Palatine Graffito: Evidence that Jesus was crucified on a Roman cross Works of Josephus: Early historian's confirmation of Jesus' life and claims Dead Sea Scrolls: Confirmation of Jesus' Jewish identity Far more than a tour of the past, The Jesus Discoveries connects Christ's story with your story, perhaps in ways that you've never before considered.
