Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“This book is passionate about passion. And nowhere is passion or desire more pronounced than in the Song of Songs. Walsh’s delicate and far-reaching explorations of desire—its sexual and spiritual dimensions—in the Song and throughout the Bible shine a bright light on this “force of life” that is essential to the human condition.”
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Through her insightful literary analysis of the characterization of rulers in the book of Kings, leavened with historical-critical scholarship, Alison Joseph shows how and why the Deuteronomist turned David and Jeroboam into prototypes of good and bad kings and how these prototypes were mapped onto other kings. This book is a welcome contribution to the study of the Deuteronomist’s compositional art and theological agenda.”
Understanding Exodus, Second Edition
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Greenberg's 'holistic method,' the hallmark of his interpretive approach, is as compelling today as it was when he developed it. How wonderful that this second edition of Understanding Exodus will present it to a new generation, along with Jeffrey Tigay's helpful foreword that sets the method and its author in context. This is a welcome addition to biblical studies.”
