Adrian van Kaam (1920–2007) earned a Ph.D. and served as a professor of formative spirituality in Holland and the United States. Van Kaam was chaplain and researcher-in-residence at the Epiphany Academy of Formative Spirituality in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Van Kaam wrote The Life Journey of a Joyful Man of God (2010) and A Light to the Gentiles (2009).
