I & II Chronicles

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“This volume is not only a traditional commentary on the text of Chronicles but also encompasses historical, rhetorical, and theological aspects, as well as reception history in and of Chronicles, introducing the reader to diverse facets of a late and very complex biblical book. With this milestone of his work, Louis Jonker brings many loose ends of his long scholarship into coherence and pioneers new directions in the analysis of Chronicles.”

Living in Different Worlds Simultaneously

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“This important volume closes a gap between Western/Northern and African hermeneutical approaches and exegesis. It is dedicated to Louis C. Jonker whose research and teaching was characterized by bridging different scientific traditions, Africa and Europe, historical-critical exegesis, hermeneutics, and reception history. His large horizon is perfectly mirrored in the contributions of this book which unites scholars of diverse disciplines covering a broad range of sources, methods, and applications.”
