Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“This collection of fine essays presents performance criticism—which places particular emphasis on public delivery—as a natural, if often neglected, part of rhetorical criticism. Only together do these two methods realize their full potential. Thus, performance criticism is not an extra but is indispensable for the study of biblical texts in light of the highly developed ancient rhetoric and culture of communication. The diversity of the topics covered reflects the multimodality of human communication. Highly recommended.”
