Preaching & Worship

“As facets on a gem reveal its hidden beauty, so Ellens's sermons disclose the depth and beauty of the scriptures relating to the seasons of the Christian year. His long career prepared him well to author this book. With the approach of a scholar, the patience of a teacher, and the understanding of a pastor, he gives the reader new insights into these familiar scriptures. To read one of his sermons on a glorious summer day is to know 'Joy to the world, the Lord is come,' or to read another on a day of great need will give the reader reason to be grateful for this book.”

Light from the Other Side

“Dr. Ellens' intriguing book reveals deeply personal 'moments of the spirit' that led him on a journey from childhood in western Michigan to a distinguished career as pastor, Army Chaplain, scholar, author, and clinical psychologist. He discusses ESP, intuition, near-death experiences, and other illuminations. Many of these are more normal than generally acknowledged, meriting vigorous scientific study. His insights are compelling. Readers wishing to explore their own spiritual experiences will find this book challenging and inspiring.”
