Celebrating God’s Cosmic Perichoresis
Theology
Foreword
“At present we are killing God's earth. Yet, the great covenant of creation calls us to care, tend, name and look after creation. We are to be gardeners, and garden dwellers. There is no more important task given to humankind. Given the broken state of this earth that reverberates through creation we are called to turn back to the task of world repair. We are called to turn to God's great redemptive plan for creation. We learn in Colossians 1, when the author quotes an early Christian hymn, that those early Christians did not sing only of their own reconciliation or that of the souls of the lost, but that they sang of the reconciliation of all things in heaven and earth with God. This book calls us to sing this song anew as a repentant people who have strayed far from God's purpose. This book is right. Please read it with great care and then write a hymn of creation in action and word.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Michael Wood Daly weaves together his personal experience of church life and mission in Canada with an integrated and engaging discussion of Canadian church history and the latest research on the health and life of the church. In addition, he makes an important contribution by critically engaging the dark history of the mission of Christian churches in Canada in relation to indigenous people on Turtle Island.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“This thoroughly researched book will be a profound help to those evangelical Christians who are wrestling with the tension between non-affirming Christian attitudes towards LGBTQI+ siblings and their exposure to the sincere faith of such siblings. Brian Cunnington unpacks scientific knowledge about sexual diversity, what biblical scholars have uncovered on difficult biblical texts, and how Christian churches can address a harmful past and the promise of a future loving response to much maligned LGBTQI+ people.”
Preaching & Worship
“With more than sixty denominations in every continent moving towards affirmation of LGBTQ people there is a great need for resources to help pastors to teach in affirming and life-giving ways. Sarah Travis’ theological lens on the church as the body of Christ combined with an affirmation of physical human bodies is inspired and profoundly helpful.”
Theology
“The originality of Hye Kyung Heo (Han)'s thinking and her insight is impressive. Even as this project is a contextual theology, particularly focused on the experience of Korean women who find themselves as immigrants or children of immigrants in North America, it also renders more general insights on the theology of the cross, feminist critiques, and the way those meld with different contexts. This book also critiques much of what has been produced around the Korean experience of han in the light of a changing cultural context in immigrant communities. I consider this an original, important contribution to the field.”
