The Psalms for Everyday Living
Bible Studies & Devotionals
“We are living in troubled times and we need deeper resources of faith, not only to sustain us but to empower us for greater love and service. In this meditational reader—drawing on the wisdom of one of the giants of the Christian faith, Charles Spurgeon—the author has given us a resource that can guide us into the paths of righteousness, prayer, and fidelity.”
Prayer & Spiritual Formation
“The modern-day mantra is projects and outcomes, and much of contemporary Evangelicalism is about success and service. Here is a voice with a different melody, forged in a life-struggle with fidelity in the midst of ill health. The melody is simple, yet profound. Be in and with the life-giving Jesus before you attempt to do so much. And being in and with invites one into the joy of friendship prayer.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“"Transforming Society is the kind of book one could put into the hands of a senator, a human rights lawyer, a journalist with a political conscience and a community development worker, whether they are Christians or not, The better they were not, for non-Christians might better understand the passion and pain of Melba Maggay's writing than triumphalistic Christians with their ready made answers to a superficial assessment of society's problems. "She is writing as a social activist who has taken time to reflect on Scripture and theological tradition in order to make better sense of the Christian's role in society . . . Her involvement in working for justice in the Philippines leading to the euphoric EDSA 'revolution' gives the book concrete particularity. Her reflections on Scripture and the role of the church give the book usable generality for other social contexts and for other times. "Transforming Society is written in a bitter-sweet note. There is no frothy idealism in this book. But neither is it pessimistic. Instead a wary realism is reflected throughout its pages . . . Its lyrical language will inspire. Its sound concepts will provide direction. Its realism will help in being credible. Its hope is Christological. The overall impact of this book will be both challenging and prophetic. "Melba Maggay is undoubtedly the finest protestant theological writer in the Philippines, and possibly in the Third World . . .”

Work, Money & Leadership
“In a world of anxiety, societal breakdown, global insecurities, and the all-pervasive threat of climate change, it is easy to become self-focused and defensive, even as Christians. But R. Paul Stevens’s marketplace theology calls us into a very different way of thinking and being. Rather than only a Sunday faith, marketplace theology provides the vision of living the kingdom of God in the most basic of human activity—our daily work. What a vision! How incarnational! How practical! And so needed, today!”

Work, Money & Leadership
“The sociologist and lay-theologian Jacques Ellul once made the statement that the great challenge of our age was for the Christian message, with its good news, to become an embodied reality in both the church and the world. This is the vision and practice of this marketplace theology book. This draws all human activity, particularly our work-a-day world, into the powerful ambit of God’s renewing work for every dimension of life. Church and world, prayer and action, human achievement and God’s purposes co-inhere into a symphony of hope and a mosaic of transformation for our world—pregnant in the shalom and flourishing of the grace of God. Here, the farmer, engineer, and houseparent take their rightful place alongside the clergyperson, the monk, and the missionary.”
Working Blessedly Forever, Volume 3
Work, Money & Leadership
“Our involvement in the marketplace and in all that we seek to do in daily life, needs an inspirational and a sustaining center. And this global book gives us a rich tapestry of ancient and contemporary Christian spiritual resources and perspectives. It provides a vision of how to live in the way of Christ, in the wisdom of the Spirit, to the glory of God, and for human flourishing in our places of work and other activities. Here is a spiritual wisdom sculpted out of experience and fidelity. Here are spiritual practices tested in challenging workplaces. Here is a vision of life that pulsates with a love of God’s kingdom ways. Here is the heartbeat of what it means to live wholly for God and for the neighbor. And here—through the many voices in this book—is a passion for transforming lives, workplaces, and our institutions.”
