Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“The beauty of Dillon Thornton’s excellent book, Deathly (De)Vices, is that it calls out the seven capital sins that mark our hearts and lives and mar our discipleship of Jesus, both for those who are glued to their devices and the digitally disengaged. The book provides a discipleship health-check with warmth and humility, rich biblical insights, and practical advice. It avoids simplistic all-or-nothing approaches to technology, instead encouraging wisdom, godliness, and greater abiding in Jesus.”
Christian Living
“Disciplines of a Godly Woman is not a legalistic ten-step plan or checklist. Rather it is Titus 2:3–5 in action, as Barbara Hughes becomes our sister, mother and grandmother in the Lord, challenging us to trust and honor God in the whole of life. After a lifetime in pastoral ministry and family life, Barbara knows the challenges we face as sinners living in a world crowded with ideas and pressures. She also knows that God’s Word provides the wisdom we need and the cross of Christ provides the grace we need. At a time when many younger women are seeking mentors, and many older women feel ill-equipped for the task, this book is a wise and loving answer to both.”
Theology
“Paul’s letter to the Colossians is focused on the supremacy, rule, and glory of Christ and all that he achieved through the cross. Kevin McFadden faithfully unpacks these themes so that our eyes are drawn to Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and understanding that far outstrip the empty philosophies of this world. McFadden’s book is not just a helpful resource on Colossians and Philemon for students and pastors; it will also encourage the heart of anyone wanting to dig deeper into the wonders of Christ.”
Theology
“Kevin DeYoung set out to write a book about the divinely designed complementarity of men and women that had exegetical integrity, used minimal technical jargon, and was weightier than a pamphlet and lighter than a doorstop. He has done just that and much more. Men and Women in the Church is readable, accessible, and—despite its brevity—covers all the main texts and common questions. It is an excellent introduction to the goodness of the Bible’s teaching about men and women, and about how to live faithfully today.”
