A Deeper Walk

Discipleship & Christian Education

“Our mission from the resurrected Lord is to make disciples. How are we doing? How effective are we? This book will help expand our vision of what discipleship is and equip us with better tools for engaging in the process. I deeply appreciate the way Marcus Warner discusses the importance of developing emotional and relational maturity as part of the process and how he takes the reality of demonic opposition seriously. There is much wisdom to be gained through this book that will sharpen our ability to fulfill our Lord's commission to us.”

An Introduction to the Greek New Testament, Produced at Tyndale House, Cambridge

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“While this volume tells the story behind The Greek New Testament, Produced at Tyndale House, Cambridge, it does much more than that. It is an excellent overview of the issues in New Testament textual criticism. Jongkind expertly and concisely guides the reader in explaining the complexities involved in grappling with the differences among manuscripts and discerning the most likely reading. All who read this book will approach their Greek New Testament with a greater level of confidence.”

Biblical Spirituality

Theology

“As people created in the image of God and called to be like him in holiness, it is imperative for us to align how we live with what God has revealed and his purposes for us. Therefore, the gospel and the biblical witness should be the starting point for any understanding of spiritual formation. This volume does a superb job of grounding spirituality in the full range of biblical teaching. It lays an indispensable foundation.”

Contextualization in the New Testament

Evangelism & Missions

“The past generation of biblical scholarship has served us well in providing an abundance of volumes rooting the source of the theological convictions of the various New Testament writers in the Old Testament and Second Temple Judaism. In the process, however, many have neglected to grapple with how the New Testament writers shaped their messages in a sensitive and relevant way to their specific cultural contexts. Dean Flemming has taken up this question and has produced an exceedingly helpful and convincing volume. This book is a must read for anyone who teaches the Bible.”

Dealing with Demons

Christian Living

“I team-taught a spiritual warfare course for over twenty years. For most of those years our students were blessed to have Chuck Kraft teach one of the sessions. I wish this book had been available during those years. This volume encapsulates many years of practical wisdom Chuck has acquired in ministry to hundreds of individuals. In its pages, Chuck presents the model that he has found effective in helping people find freedom from demonic affliction.”

Ephesians

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“I have anxiously anticipated this commentary since the early 1980s, and it is no disappointment. Hoehner has now produced the most detailed and comprehensive treatment of Ephesians ever written. The volume is well organized, clearly written, and very useful for in-depth study of the letter. It is now the indispensable standard for courses on Ephesians.”

Finding Quiet

Counseling, Grief & Mental Health

“In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus repeatedly enjoins us not to be anxious (Matthew 6:25–34). The apostle Paul reinforces this admonition when he writes, “Do not be anxious about anything” (Philippians 4:6). But how? Many of us feel powerless to banish anxiety from our lives. It just happens. And sometimes we find that the more we try to deal with it, the more anxiety we feel precisely because we cannot overcome it. In this practical, insightful, and immensely helpful book, J. P. Moreland imparts the wisdom he has acquired in his years of personal struggle with anxiety—an integrative wisdom coming from the fields of neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, medicine, and philosophy. He combines this with a set of biblical spiritual practices that make a profound difference in the quality of one’s life. If you struggle with anxiety, this book will give you hope.”

In the Name of Jesus

Theology

“Contemporary accounts of exorcisms abound, but there has been very little written on the practice from a rigorous biblical and historical perspective until now. In the Name of Jesus fills this gap and provides the reader with numerous helpful insights into the text of Scripture and into the practice of the church in the second century. This book is exceptionally well researched and will prove to be an indispensable source for biblical scholars as well as anyone interested in the theme of spiritual warfare. I cannot think of anyone better suited to write this volume than Dr. Twelftree.”

Knocking on Heaven's Door

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“This is not just another book about prayer. David Crump has achieved a very satisfying blend of exegetical analysis and theological reflection in a volume that provides insightful and, at times, challenging perspective on the tough questions. His presentation of the biblical teaching on prayer is very helpful and needs to be heard.”

Not Afraid of the Antichrist

Theology

“For the past thirty years, I have taught a course on 1 Thessalonians—the only book of the Bible to use the word translated “rapture” (harpazō). In the fourth chapter, the apostle Paul expresses the sequence of events associated with the return of Christ: (1) The Lord shall descend from heaven, (2) the dead in Christ will rise, and (3) believers who are alive shall be “caught up” (raptured) to meet the Lord in the air. The million-dollar question is, What happens next? Will believers accompany the Lord to the earth where He will begin His reign (the post-Tribulation view)? Or will believers remain with Christ in heaven while God pours out His wrath on the earth (the pre-Tribulation view)? Paul’s answer: “We will always be with the Lord!” The issue of the Rapture is a very difficult question and must be answered by inference from the collected testimony of many passages of Scripture. Brown and Keener have put together a well-articulated case for the post-Tribulational position, and they have done so with grace. This book deserves a very careful reading.”

Paul, Apostle of Grace

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“In a volume reminiscent of F. F. Bruce’s classic Paul: Apostle of the Heart Set Free, Frank Thielman offers a wonderfully written portrait of Paul that is profound, insightful, and deeply rooted in good scholarship. Thielman does a skillful job of weaving Jewish and Graeco-Roman historical information into his presentation showing Paul’s indebtedness to his Pharisaic Jewish background, but living and ministering in a Hellenistic and Roman environment. This book will surprise the reader, too, in some bold and well-supported new proposals about the life-setting of some of Paul’s letters, such as Galatians and the Pastoral Epistles. Anyone wanting to know the apostle Paul and his writings better will need to read and reflect on this masterful work.”

Restoring the Kingdom

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“In this well-written volume, Michael Salmeier has provided a needed and accurate portrayal of the major actor of the book of Acts--God. The work is replete with helpful insights and gives necessary correction to previous treatments of this theme.”

Silencing Satan

Theology

“This handbook is an immensely helpful blend of biblical and historical insight, wisdom for practical ministry, and instructive stories of contemporary situations involving the demonic. It is an essential resource for anyone involved in ministry.”

Silencing Satan: 13 Studies for Individuals and Groups

Bible Studies & Devotionals

“This handbook is an immensely helpful blend of biblical and historical insight, wisdom for practical ministry, and instructive stories of contemporary situations involving the demonic. It is an essential resource for anyone involved in ministry.”

Simon, Who Is Called Peter

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“From encountering Jesus with his brother, Andrew, to suffering for Jesus on a Roman cross, the Apostle Peter recounts his life and experiences as a devoted, but sometimes stumbling, follower of the Lord. . . . Mulligan succeeds in putting together an account that is both faithful to the biblical text and engagingly expressed. What a great resource this will be for a class on Peter or for Bible study groups who want to explore Peter's life.”

Sola Scriptura in Asia

Theology

“This wide-ranging collection of essays represent insightful and helpful reflections on the implications of the major findings of the Reformation for Christianity in varied Asian contexts. The essays are top-quality biblical, theological, philosophical studies by a diverse group of scholars. This volume will be helpful for Christian leaders throughout Asia. But as a Western Christian scholar and leader, I have found the essays incredibly helpful in thinking through issues in my own context.”
