A Body of Praise

Preaching & Worship

“The role of the human body in Christian worship has been neglected for too long but is now significantly enriched by Taylor’s work. This book is wide in scope yet deep in wisdom. His writing displays a lifetime of scholarship and reflection, now brought together in mature form for the benefit of worshiping communities everywhere.”

Becoming What We Sing

Preaching & Worship

“Sometimes authors write something that the church is ready for but doesn’t need; other times they write what the church needs but is not ready for. David Lemley’s convincing examination of the formational realities of contemporary worship music is a topic that’s time has come: the church both needs and is ready for it. David Lemley succeeds in presenting an interdisciplinary, well-researched case for recognizing and embracing the obvious: not only that we are spiritually formed by the words and music of CWM, but also how it has become, in its own right, a symbol in Christian liturgy. This book will help us all move to the next level in valuing its effect on corporate worship.”

Glimpses of the New Creation

Preaching & Worship

“A much-needed book to advance the church’s understanding of the formational role of various art forms in Christian worship. He provides a framework for viewing the arts in service to the liturgy without resorting to reductionistic, unilateral conclusions. It is thought-provoking in content and pastoral in approach. His commitment to a context-specific application of the arts makes it relevant to a wide audience. I highly recommend Taylor’s book for anyone desiring to expand the arts in worship.”

Greater Attention

Preaching & Worship

“Timothy Slemmons has composed an exceptional collection of worship material for God's people as they gather for corporate worship. It is convincing in theological soundness, remarkable in scriptural paraphrase, and elegant in poetic phrasing. He creates these worship words not only as someone who has years of experience pastorally leading worship, but also as one who has prayed every line of each worship act set forth in this collection.”

Leading Worship for Workers

Christian Living

“Connecting worship and work is not solely a topic for a Labor Day service; it is a way of life. Kaemingk and Roelofs assist local congregations by providing a rich resource for worship architects who wish to help worshipers traverse the border between daily occupation and Lord’s Day worship. This is a handbook filled with biblically grounded, practical examples and exercises that help address the persisting bifurcation between the sacred and the secular.”

Meaning in the Moment

Christian Living

“Amy Davis Abdallah has given Christians a beautiful gift in inviting us into the transformative power of rituals in all of life. While acknowledging the vital role of rituals in corporate worship, she opens the door to how meaningful rituals can stimulate personal growth as well. She not only explains the benefits of creating rituals but also gives practical examples and models for picking up this spiritual discipline to the benefit of our souls. Her work is clearly written and impassioned from years of experience. Anyone will benefit from this book.”

Transforming Worship

Preaching & Worship

“Rory Noland has given Christian worshipers a beautiful gift in helping us to perceive corporate worship as the vital avenue for spiritual transformation. True worship has always been formative; at issue is the degree to which we perceive the liturgy's work within us as a discipling force. This book calls for worship leaders to plan and lead worship in ways that shape worship services to fulfill their formational potential. Noland's many years of both theological reflection on worship and practical experience unite, offering the reader biblical insights and practical implementation.”

Walking Where Jesus Walked

Preaching & Worship

“An impressive collection of materials providing readers with a multidimensional view of fourth-century worship in Jerusalem. . . I can't wait to use Walking Where Jesus Walked in the classroom and in the church.”

Worship, Music, and Interpretation

Preaching & Worship

“Wendy J. Porter has offered the church an unusual perspective of the interchange between worship, music and interpretation in the life of Christian worship over time. Porter is successful in interweaving her findings into an insightful contribution to help alleviate the common tendency to bifurcate areas of study. Porter’s scholarly and mature work should be read by every serious practitioner of musical worship.”
