Church Leadership & Ministry
“In The Church as Movement White and Woodward rewrite what it means to cultivate and grow churches in the mission fields of post-Christendom. Accomplishing the impossible, they provide an exhaustive preparation for those who dare to navigate this terrain. It's a learning experience enormous in its aspirations yet so necessary for the task that lies ahead for the church in mission.”
Theology
“With great care and serious scholarship, Lee Beach writes about the demise of Christendom and what Christians should do about it. Read this book and weep . . . or see the church with new hope like you've never seen it before. For me, I ended up with the latter and am extremely grateful for having read it.”
The Crucifixion of the Warrior God
Theology
“Here a world is opened up where the violence of the Old Testament becomes not merely tolerable but illumines the God who loves, never coerces, and rejects all violence in Jesus Christ. A monumental work. Breathtaking in scope. A stunning accomplishment from one of the brilliant theological minds of our day. I could not be more thankful for a book.”
Prayer & Spiritual Formation
“With much grace and wisdom, Tara Beth Leach invites us into the practice of morning prayer. Walking us through Scripture and the mornings of her own life, we catch a vision for receiving each morning as a gift as we rise to commune with God. As I read it, I was both challenged and moved. The GREAT Morning Revolution proves to be a masterful tutorial for those seeking a deeper walk with God.”
The Missional Church in Perspective
Church Leadership & Ministry
“The missional conversation, which has experienced explosive growth over the last ten years, has been in sore need of a road map. The Missional Church in Perspective provides just that. In this scholarly and generous guide, Van Gelder and Zscheile clear away the confusion by providing a masterful, historical description of the various tracks of the missional church. Along the way, they tell the whole story of the movement, assessing its weaknesses and making counter proposals. In so doing, they have given us the book that can chart the course for the next era of the missional church, one of the most vital missionary movements in North America.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Quietly, beneath the purview of the dominant social systems, a revolution is taking place. The church is returning to the local. In The New Parish, three subversives plot the church's simple way back into the neighborhood. The result is flourishing, renewal of the Spirit, indeed the gospel taking on flesh! This book is your invitation to the revolution!”
Christian Living
“The Sacred Overlap is a winsome push beyond the either/or to the both/ and, a disturbing nudge that moves us beyond the tribal, an inspiring prod to the way of God at work in the world in Jesus Christ. I hope you’ll read this book, written so well by an engaged mind, and let it challenge your imagination to become the kind of Christian our world is so desperate for.”

Church Leadership & Ministry
“The Shaping of Things to Come has achieved landmark status in the missional church conversation. Ten years after its first printing, it remains the starting point for many of the concepts we are fleshing out to this day. So welcome to this revised edition. And I eagerly look forward to new insights!”
The Strategically Small Church
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Emerging from the shadow of the megachurch comes the good news of The Strategically Small Church. With insightful cultural analysis, compelling storytelling, and perceptive theological reflection, O’Brien’s book gives us new eyes for what God can do uniquely in the small church. With every page turned, the small church becomes less a burden to bear and more a compelling way of life. I highly recommend it.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“To those with the most impossible of 'jobs'—our pastors—comes a great gift: The Vulnerable Pastor. Here, with great care, Mandy Smith manages to reframe what it means to be a pastor and to infuse it with the life of the gospel. I truly tell you that The Vulnerable Pastor resonated with the core of my being. It not only made being a pastor possible again, it made being a pastor wonderful.”
Evangelism & Missions
“Rejecting withdrawal or simply joining with the world, Frost and Rice ask the question all over again: How can we Christians transform the world? Moving beyond the old, tired Christendom habits, they offer the church a fresh way to inhabit, take up roots, and let God birth his kingdom in the neighborhoods of our lives. Their book To Alter the World truly alters our imagination for the practice of church, and I am so pleased to recommend it.”
What Does It Mean to Be Welcoming?
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“In What Does It Mean to Be Welcoming? Travis Collins offers not a diatribe, but a conversation. Pastoral in tone, careful in scholarship, he guides us through the maze that is the current divide over same-sex sexual relations in the church. We may differ in approach, but I greatly appreciate this clarifying work.”
Christian Living
“Like a horrific scene from a war zone, we are walking through the rubble of our failed churches. From here Todd Hunter speaks. Refusing to smooth over the grievous sins of the church, Hunter leads us steadfastly on a course to reconstruct our approach to church by going deep with Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, the one constant amid the ruins of failed religion. A gifted thinker, compassionate pastor, and seasoned leader, Hunter guides us through our pain. For all those besieged by the hurts of a failed church, What Jesus Intended arrives at this most crucial of moments to be the balm for our wounded souls.”
Why Love Will Always Be a Poor Investment
Marriage, Family & Relationships
“Somehow, after reading Why Love Will Always Be a Poor Investment, marriage as we know it in North America is no longer possible, and that's a good thing. With wit, imagination, satire, and a brilliant awareness of the cultural hurdles we face, Armstrong clarifies what a new faithfulness might mean for those of us seeking to be married in these times. Thank you Kurt Armstrong for this book!”
Why Would Anyone Go to Church?
Christian Living
“Why Would Anyone Go to Church? tells a story about a church, a place, and a people. Ultimately, though, it is a story about the incarnation of the gospel. Read this book and realize that what the world needs now is incarnation. Read it and discover all over again what is so compelling about not just going to church but being the church.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Wisdom from Babylon is a masterful guide for Christian leadership amid the upheavals of our secular age. Global in reach, thick with scholarship, Gordon Smith's work gives us the wherewithal to gain a footing for the journey that besets us. He offers not retreat but presence. This book is hope for anyone asking, 'How can we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land?' (Psalm 137:4).”
