Deanne E. B. Ross has served as a civil rights attorney and member of the bar, and has also worked as an artist. Ross previously served as a trial attorney in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, and as Special Counsel to the State Legislature of Louisiana and to the City of Springfield, Massachusetts. Ross wrote Walking to New Orleans (2008).
