World Religions
“In rare but true interdisciplinary fashion, Brown, Dahl, and Reuschling probe the relationship of wholeness and holiness. Drawing on their respective specialties in biblical hermeneutics, the social sciences, and ethics, the authors convincingly demonstrate with freshness and clarity that wholeness and holiness are linked, and that the path to them is a joyful but precarious journey. Becoming Whole and Holy is personally convicting, but will be a rich resource for a wide variety of disciplines in academic settings. Above all, the church needs its prophetic message.”
Theology
“This masterful treatment of the image of God is not abstract theology removed from everyday reality; rather, as Kilner shows, what's at stake is human dignity in every sphere of life. A clear and cogently argued work that will become the major source for future explorations of the topic.”
Christian Living
“Drawing on his rich background as pediatrician, epidemiologist, public health officer, professor, and pastor, Stephen Ko has made a significant contribution to a Christian understanding of the human body. Faith Embodied lucidly applies a biblical and theological understanding to spiritual development, worship, and everyday life. I highly recommend this readable, engaging book.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Cogent, clear, and convicting! How Leaders Lose Their Way is a must-read for leaders in churches and Christian organizations. This is a vital sequel to Mission Drift (by Peter Greer and others), as it probes the personal drift that so easily occurs in positions of power. And significantly, it points not just to the problems but provides spiritual resources for amending our ways.”
Jonathan Edwards and Justification
Theology
“A significant work that advances the growing scholarship on Jonathan Edwards and contributes to the current debates on justification. These lucid essays demonstrate that the great biblical and Reformation teaching on justification is not a stale, dusty doctrine, but has ramifications for the vitality of the Church and the reform of society.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“Rae’s fifth edition of Moral Choices is a significant gift to the church and the discipline of Christian ethics. His engagement with historic and contemporary voices in both the foundations of ethics and numerous ethical issues makes this lucid and fair volume indispensable for students, pastors, and lay people.”
Preaching & Worship
“Drawing on biblical theology, neuroscience, and rhetorical theory, Jeffrey Arthurs makes a compelling case for preaching as the stimulation and actualization of memory. As he puts it, 'Without memory we are lost souls.' This is true of all humans, but especially of Christians who look back to God's actions and teachings in history, climaxed in the incarnation, death, and resurrection of Jesus. A must-read for pastors and would-be pastors.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Peter Greer and David Weekley lucidly demonstrate that fundraising and giving are primarily about partnership.”
Christian Living
“Drawing together cultural analysis, student narratives, theological reflection, and spiritual formation, Matthew Niermann makes a clear case that creativity is far more than technique and know-how. Vices, rooted in self-absorption under the guise, ‘be true to yourself,’ are not just moral issues, but thwart creativity. An important and readable book for our times!”
The Matrix of Christian Ethics
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“The Matrix of Christain Ethics provides a comprehensive, readable, and up-to-date overview of Christain ethical thought. . . . An ideal textbook for the classroom.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“Ethics is never autonomous but always arises from a particular narrative. Hastings cogently argues that Christian ethics must be theological and therefore is Trinitarian, biblical, ecclesial, and missional. A significant contribution to both Christian ethics and theology.”
Christian Living
“With years of experience in listening to and mentoring students, Stephen Kellough has written a thoughtful and insightful book on the challenges Christian students face today. Walking with Jesus on Campus is an important, practical guide for both students and those walking with them in their spiritual journey. Highly recommended.”
