Building on a Common Foundation

History & Biography

“Brian Talbot’s book is impressive. He tells the story of the Baptist Union against the background of national events and the changing face of Christian Scotland. As always he has mastered the sources, and by carefully selecting details he brings to life the history of our Baptist people.”

The Search for a Common Identity

History & Biography

“Brian Talbot, by discovering much new material and reinterpreting what was known, sheds light on the struggle for union among Scottish Baptists before 1869, and convincingly challenges several assumptions. He deftly weaves together history, biography and theology and asserts the importance of the several varieties of Baptists in the life of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century Scotland.”
