Liturgical Theology Revisited

Preaching & Worship

“Jesus feasted with sinners to reveal God's work and presence. Twenty-first-century Christians welcoming all to share communion follow him and find his practice converts people and forms us all for mission. This renewed ancient practice now asks us to make a fresh and renewed Christology, baptismal theology, and a deeper understanding of the Spirit in Christian community and the whole world. Liturgical Theology Revisited makes an early and invaluable contribution to that conversation.”

Silence: A User’s Guide, Volume Two

Prayer & Spiritual Formation

“Silence: A User’s Guide frames a graceful and fiercely generous invitation to gratitude, silence, and beholding. Maggie Ross in her wise and steadily practical way models Mary Oliver’s simple directions in the poem “Prayer”: ‘Pay attention…patch a few words together…don’t make them elaborate… just a doorway into thanks, and a silence in which another voice may speak.’ I look forward to sharing this book with friends.”

Writing the Icon of the Heart

Prayer & Spiritual Formation

“Maggie Ross writes in the silence that births language and lays it to rest. I'll share this book with an Anglican wondering whether her simple, steady skepticism means she has lost her faith; with a gay friend longing for communion and struggling with his Roman Catholic church's condemnation of homosexuality; and with a Buddhist whose compassionate practice teaches me so much about prayer. Then I'll read it again.”
