E. W. Hengstenberg (1802–1869) studied at the University of Bonn and served as Professor of Theology at Berlin. Hengstenberg also edited the Evangelische Kirchenzeitung. Hengstenberg's books include the Commentary on the Gospel of St. John series, Christology of the Old Testament, 2 Volumes, and History of the Kingdom of God under the Old Testament.
