Cultivating Sent Communities

Church Leadership & Ministry

“The bias in most of the recent literature on the missional church has been theologically grounded activism. This volume provides a welcome counterbalance, emphasizing the spiritual formation of persons and congregations. Its great strengths come from the theological richness of the Lutheran tradition, the wide-ranging examples and insights of the nine contributors, and the integration of spirituality with mission in a wide variety of contexts.”

Discipleship Essentials

Bible Studies & Devotionals

“One of the most serious challenges facing the church in North America is that of undiscipled church members. Greg Ogden's work seeks to move Sunday-only consumer Christians into the adventurous life of following Jesus on a daily basis in authentic community. It provides an indispensable resource to help local churches address this challenge.”

Church Leadership & Ministry

“In recent decades there have been a number of helpful books on church planting. They generally fall into two categories: a successful church planter who presents a formula or a technical approach that is highly theoretical. Sean Benesh avoids both extremes. His approach is both accessible and based on good research. Throughout the book there are many personal anecdotes drawn from his own church-planting experiences in a number of cities. His concern is for the urban context. He knows how to exegete the city. And he identifies the Creative class as a primary group to engaged because they shape the culture and set a course for the future of the location. It is rare to find an author who is both a skilled practitioner and an academically trained theoretician.”

Soul Whisperer

Evangelism & Missions

“Comer covers a wide range of obstacles to faith-sharing that most of us experience. His discussions are honest, personally vulnerable, and rich with illustrations drawn from Scripture, contemporary culture, and personal encounters. The best commendation I can offer is that after reading the insights of Soul Whisperer I can say to myself, 'I think I could do that!'”

The Bartender

Fiction

“Some stories you just read, while others you are drawn into. Mike McNichols has written the latter. It weaves together a collection of characters, each of whom brings important issues that give rise to significant insights for the church to become not just a place but a community of peoples. They become a dispersed people who are both excited and challenged by Jesus, living with curiosity and anticipation as his servants in the world. If Jesus lived life to the full in the world and loved it so much he was prepared to lay down his life for it, how could his followers withdraw into their own little world? That is why the Bartender story is as inspiring as it is disturbing.”

The Forgotten Ways

Christian Living

“It is refreshing to read a book related to the missional church that provides theological depth coupled with creative thinking. Hirsch reestablishes the essential links between Christology, missiology, and ecclesiology. The Forgotten Ways helps to rescue the concept of church from the clutches of Christendom, setting it free to become a dynamic movement in place of a dying institution.”

The Living Church

Church Leadership & Ministry

“While many high-profile churches come and go, All Souls, Langham Place, in the heart of London has maintained its spiritual vitality and mission commitment over many decades. Its effectiveness has depended not on a formula for success but on an unswerving commitment to fundamental biblical principles. The Living Church establishes the foundations for a biblically balanced approach to ministry that is comprehensive in its scope and expressed with John Stott's characteristic clarity. It provides a valuable resource for church leaders seeking to revitalize existing churches and for those birthing new faith communities.”

The Missional Church in Perspective

Church Leadership & Ministry

“The missional church project endeavored to reconnect ecclesiology and missiology and identified the key convictions that undergirded the church in a post-Christendom, pluralistic world. In the years since, the term ‘missional’ has been adopted by a wide variety of traditions and attached to many add-on programs. This book brings much-needed clarity to a confused picture. It is no rehash of familiar material but rather breaks new ground and leaves the reader with an appetite for more!”

The Solo Pastor

Christian Living

“What Every Pastor Should Know is an invaluable reference book. Its value lies in being well researched, comprehensive, specific, and practical. It is also user friendly in listing so many guidelines and rules to help church leaders keep on course and not become sidetracked.”

They Like Jesus but Not the Church

Evangelism & Missions

“Dan brings authenticity and sensitivity to the discussion by engaging people who have come to trust him as their friend. This is Jesus’ way of engagement. He didn’t talk about people; he conversed with them.”

Transforming Discipleship

Discipleship & Christian Education

“Greg Ogden draws on his extensive pastoral experience as well as his interaction with many pastors in the Fuller D.Min. classes to provide an extensive range of biblical principles and practical ministry insights. He establishes the foundations for a reproducible model of discipleship. The issue is urgent and widespread in the churches of North America. This is the kind of book to help make a significant difference.”
