Fumitaka Matsuoka

Biography

Fumitaka Matsuoka is Robert Gordon Sproul Professor of Theology Emeritus at Pacific School of Religion, where Matsuoka previously served as Professor of Theology and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and earlier directed the Institute for Leadership Development and the Study of Pacific and Asian North American Religion (PANA Institute). Matsuoka also previously served as Professor of Theology and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Bethany Theological Seminary. Matsuoka's books include So Kind Yet So Cruel (2026), Learning to Speak a New Tongue (2011), and Out of Silence (2009).
