The Power of the Resurrected Body

Theology

“In his most recent book, The Power of the Resurrected Body, George Evans states that his aim is to ‘contribute to a deeper comprehension of the complex interplay between physicality, spirituality, and the divine.’ His insightful study challenges traditional—sometimes understudied and problematic—dualistic notions that have taken hold in the church as to the relationship of the body and to the spiritual aspects of humanity. When our human bodies matter more, adjustments need to be made across the theological spectrum. The work we do in the world becomes even more critical in God’s cosmic plan, the this-worldly aspects of salvation overtake more escapist views of ‘being saved for eternity.’ With the production of this work, perhaps a planned systematic theology resulting from the implications of this anthropological position is in order. I suspect we will hear more from Evans in the coming years.”
