Portús na hÉireann, Second Edition

Prayer & Spiritual Formation

“Praise for the first edition “We are formed—for good or for ill—by what we practice, and this book is a welcome reminder that the practice of praying the hours has played and can still play a formative role in nurturing Christian faith. At the same time, by taking us into the Celtic tradition, Dustin Ashley’s work does a great service by connecting us to an important and sometimes neglected stream of forebears among our ‘great cloud of witnesses.’”

Splendour in the Dark

Arts & Literature

“Jerry Root's Splendour in the Dark richly illuminates C. S. Lewis's early halting—and at times haunting—expression of themes that would occupy his writing for the rest of his life: the confusion of freedom with radical autonomy, the painful truth that spiritual growth demands ruthless self-honesty, and the conviction that our deepest longings only find fulfillment in God. This book is essential reading for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the life and thought of the twentieth century's most influential Christian writer.”

The Medieval Mind of C. S. Lewis

Arts & Literature

“In this beautifully written book, Jason Baxter invites us to breathe the air of the medieval world that was C. S. Lewis's natural home, providing rich insight into the philosophical and theological imagination that shaped Lewis's thought and writing. But much more, Baxter helps us grasp the urgency Lewis felt to convey the beauty and grandeur of that age to us moderns, who live in a mechanized universe that is robbed of transcendence. This book is a vital resource not only for understanding Lewis and his world but also for making sense of our own.”

The Wonders of Creation

Arts & Literature

“In this timely book, Kristen Page issues a compelling prophetic call for conservative evangelicals who have often ignored climate crisis warnings—and also love Lewis and Tolkien—to care for God's good creation. She shows how losing ourselves within the beauty of Narnia and Middle-earth's imaginary landscapes can awaken our capacity for ecological wonder and humility, leading us to extol the glory of God and respect the imago Dei in all of creation. Page and her conversation partners model how scholars in science, theology, and literature might come together to address crucial issues of our time.”
