Work, Money & Leadership
“In Shundrawn Thomas's Discover Joy in Work, I've found at last the book I've been seeking for the business people, professionals, and students looking for career guidance in my church. I love the fact that this book is both current in its research about issues related to occupation and vocation as well as rooted in sound theology and biblical understanding. Amazingly, it is also a wonderful read, filled with well-told stories and practical application. In reading this book, people's lives will be transformed as we begin to see our work not as something we have to do but as a place, people, and task to which God has sent us.”

“When churches wrestle with division over contradictory views related to the work of the Holy Spirit, this book will provide lucid and succinct guidance. When individuals fear they have grieved the Holy Spirit, Dr. Cole's teaching will provide clarity and encouragement. When church leaders long for their congregations to know the filling of the Spirit of God, they will find wisdom in this book. I recommend it highly.”

“Everyone who has a place of influence—and that is all of us whether in business, politics, church, family, or friendships—should read Jae Hoon Lee's book, Great to Good. The point is not that we are to give up excellence in our callings but that we are to emulate the way of using power demonstrated by Jesus. We should lead not for personal acclaim or advancement but to bring justice and blessing to those under our care. I am particularly glad to recommend this book because its author not only teaches us these truths but personally lives a life of service that reflects the goodness of Christ Jesus.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“People who have sensed a divine call become confused about what a minister should be. CEO? Therapist? Visionary? Communicator? Shepherd? Dr. Fernando demonstrates the relevance of the ministry model of Jesus to the matters ministers face globally. If the priorities articulated in this book become the priorities of those in ministry, there will be greater integrity in the church, the truth of the gospel will be seen in the actions of its ministers, and the Lord will be honored.”
Theology
“I have felt deep need for someone to enter the discussion of gender and leadership in the church and provide some fresh perspectives and new approaches. Dr. Sumner has listened well. Her work is done in the context both of careful scholarship and of personal experience within the evangelical community. And, I believe, she provides an important contribution to the life of the church.”

“I should add one more point: the book is very readable. That makes it a book I want not only my pastoral colleagues but all my church people to read. It’s evident that Dr. Schultz knows how to make complex issues concise and clear. I especially appreciate the chapter on how genre influences meaning. I’ll be recommending this book to pastors and lay teachers—indeed, to all who want to listen to, understand, and obey God’s Word.”
Theology
“I can hardly imagine a book that speaks more fully and directly into the issues I am dealing with as a pastor than Tending Soul, Mind, and Body. In our Southern California church, we say that when people come to faith in Jesus and become a part of our church family, we will give attention to the growth and development of the whole of their lives until 'each one is complete in Christ' (Col 1:28). However, that statement means that we have to address issues related to people's emotional challenges, physical well-being, mental health, and spiritual nurture. I find I need help from scholars and practitioners, theologians and psychologists, as well as anthropologists and exegetes. This book brings together all these resources. It is a relevant, excellent, and much-needed volume that speaks to the most important issues of our human condition while being firmly rooted in the gospel. I recommend it without reservation.”
