“Geffrey Kelly fuses personal characteristics that define him--deep sensitivity for spirituality, ecumenical openness and knowledge, the discipline of individual and communal practice of devotion, a sharp eye for contextuality, and his unmistakable Irish passion--and mingles them into this study of two widely acclaimed works by Bonhoeffer. The combination of those elements, and his intimate knowledge of the literature by and on Bonhoeffer, make for a fresh, well-written, and compelling introduction . . . and highlight Dietrich Bonhoeffer's relevance for living in today's context as followers of Christ.”
Theology
“"Paul Chung invites us to join him in the quest for the truth in which he joins contemporaries of antiquity: Plato (the Greek from the Western world and his metaphor of the cave) and Laozi (the Chinese from the Eastern world and his metaphor of the butterfly), and interprets them through the eyes of each other. We are taken on a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary journey that seeks to advance a genuinely inter-cultural art of interpretation in the quest for the truth. In the world of the twenty-first century, marked by what is called 'the clash of civilizations,' such interculturality is indeed urgent.”
Theology
“The Göttingen Dogmatics is Barth's first venture at a scholarly dogmatics that has the form, order, and substance he believed necessary. It gives, therefore, important clues about how his theology was to proceed in taking its final, though unfinished, shape. For historical reasons alone this work is important, since the genesis and evolution of an influential theology are given here.”
Theology
“In the mosaic of Karl Barth literature, this study is one of those gems without which the larger picture suffers distortion. Eleanor Jackson's well-done introduction throws a carefully measured light on Charlotte von Kirschbaum, her work, her relationship with Karl Barth, and her contribution to his theology. But it is von Kirschbaum's actual writings that make this small book a necessary addition to the Barth mosaic while, at the same time, showing that the often overlooked gem has a beautiful radiance of its own.”
Theology
“These lectures are a significant marker on the road of Barth's theological progress. Barth's resolute joining of the knowledge of God and the knowledge of history, widely valued by many, is already present in these lectures from 1922. Biography, history, theology, reflection, and actualization for our time flow smoothly one into the other.. Barth brings to these lectures a rare congeniality and sensibility for what was at the heart of the Protestant Reformation - then and now. A captivating and reliable introduction to Calvin and to his theology.”
