A Charitable Orthopathy

World Religions

“How should Christians relate to adherents of other religions? A Charitable Orthopathy breaks fresh ground in moving the discussion beyond simply questions about beliefs and practices to consideration of the moral and theological significance of attitudes and emotions shaping our responses to religious others. At a time when Christian perspectives are driven largely by fear and anger, these essays point us toward a better way, rooted in the virtues to be found in Christ’s disciples.”

Between One Faith and Another

World Religions

“With the wisdom and wit we expect from Professor Kreeft, this delightful 'imaginative exploration' guides us in thinking about differences and similarities in the major religious traditions today. Thoughtful, informative, and provocative, this 'trialogue' takes us to the heart of some central issues in comparative religion.”

Beyond the Impasse

Theology

“Few areas in theology are as complex, controversial, and urgent as theology of religions. Amos Yong has advanced the discussion significantly with his creative and sophisticated proposal for a pneumatological theology of religions. While undoubtedly controversial, Yong's proposal frames the issues in fresh ways and suggests new options for an evangelical theology of religions.”

Christianity at the Religious Roundtable

World Religions

“Drawing upon extensive intercultural and interreligious ministry experience as well as solid work in theology and comparative religions, Professor Tim Tennent has produced an important work that should take evangelical discussions about theology of religions to a new level. Tennent displays a refreshing blend of respect for and willingness to learn from other traditions along with a firm commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ as truth for all people.”

Contextualizing the Faith

Christian Living

“Drawing upon three decades of global ministry and teaching about contextualization, Scott Moreau offers us a rich, creative, and responsible treatment of the relation between the gospel and particular contexts. Contextualizing the Faith is a wise and reliable guide to issues that are as urgent as they are complex.”

Discipling in a Multicultural World

Evangelism & Missions

“How do we make disciples of Jesus in contexts of increasing ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity? Few people are as qualified to answer this question as the global Christian statesman Ajith Fernando. Drawing upon four decades of ministry worldwide and a seasoned scholar’s understanding of Scripture, Fernando provides us with a rich and wise guide to forming disciples among those from various cultural backgrounds. Essential insights for effective ministry today!”

Ethics and the Autonomy of Philosophy

Philosophy

“There is today a resurgence of interest in philosophical and theological issues concerning God and morality, and in this important work Bernard Walker examines a cluster of complex and controversial questions at the heart of the debate. Written by a philosopher who is also a committed Christian, this book will stimulate you to consider some familiar issues in fresh ways and to explore more deeply the relation between God, Scripture, and moral principles.”

Evangelical Zen, Second Edition

World Religions

“Books about the theory of intercultural or interreligious encounter abound, but this delightful series of reflections by evangelical theologian Paul Louis Metzger is different. Drawing upon his rich experience with the culture of Japan and a deep friendship with the late Abbot Kyogen Carlson, a Zen Buddhist, Metzger leads us on an intensely personal journey across religious, cultural, ethnic, and national boundaries in search of our common humanity as God’s creatures. Wise and witty, this is a ‘must-read’ for anyone concerned with issues of the gospel and cultural or religious others in our globalizing world.”

Faith Comes by Hearing

Theology

“These thoughtful, irenic and informed essays provide an important response to more 'inclusivist' perspectives on the question of the destiny of the unevangelized. This is a helpful contribution to a complex and controversial set of issues.”

Humble Confidence

Apologetics

“Can apologetics play a positive role in Christian witness today in our cosmopolitan, multireligious, and multicultural societies? In this thoughtful and nuanced discussion, Benno van den Toren and Kang-San Tan persuasively argue that, properly understood, interfaith apologetics actually is indispensable in Christian witness in highly diverse contexts. They provide a relevant and wise guide for all concerned with effective ministry in our globalizing and fragmenting world.”

Man and Woman, One in Christ

Theology

“Man and Woman, One in Christ represents a massive amount of research and careful thinking! What an important contribution to the church! It should shape the discussion for some time to come. The book is carefully researched and argued, a significant piece of work.”

Prophets in the Qur’ān and the Bible

World Religions

“The essays in this volume all focus on a concept that is central to both Islam and Christianity—the prophet. The essays set out the notion of the prophet in the Qur’ān and Islam and compare it with that found in the Old and New Testaments. . . . The contributors are a distinguished group of international scholars who combine impressive academic credentials with extensive ministry among Muslims.”

Reasons for Faith

Apologetics

“The church today faces a bewildering array of issues that challenge the truth or plausibility of Christian claims. Reasons for Faith provides an informative and helpful response to many of these issues. Even those who may not agree with every argument or conclusion will benefit from careful reading of this significant work.”

Reformed Epistemology and the Problem of Religious Diversity

Philosophy

“Reformed Epistemology--one of the more important and controversial movements in recent epistemology of religion--has been criticized for failing to deal adequately with issues stemming from religious disagreement. In this helpful work, Joseph Kim carefully explains Alvin Plantinga's version of Reformed Epistemology and defends it against criticisms based upon religious diversity and disagreement.”

Revelation in Christian Theologies of Religions

Theology

“What might leading theologians of the past have to contribute to twenty-first-century debates in theology of religions? In this meticulously researched and thoughtful study, Iain McGee probes the rich heritage of thinkers such as Justin Martyr, Augustine, John Calvin, and Jonathan Edwards on other religions, and he brings their insights into fruitful dialogue with the views of contemporary Reformed theologian Daniel Strange. Although written from a Reformed perspective, this is a ground-breaking historical and theological work for anyone seriously interested in the theology of religions.”

Seeking the Welfare of the City

Theology

“In exploring the implications of pneumatology in Colin Gunton’s public theology, Naomi Reese develops a rich, trinitarian public theology of her own which enables the church to ‘see the world through the eyes of the eschatological Spirit.’ An important contribution to our understanding of Gunton’s theology in its own right, Seeking the Welfare of the City also points the way toward a genuinely trinitarian public theology.”

The Bible vs. Biblical Womanhood

Theology

“A compelling and highly readable case for the full equality of women and men. This remarkable book presents the best in New Testament scholarship for non-specialists.”

The Diaspora Returns Home

Evangelism & Missions

“Diaspora missiology seems to offer significant potential for missions in the twenty-first century, but responsible empirical research into its effectiveness has been lacking. In this carefully researched and thoughtful study, Bryan Woods helps to fill this gap by examining the return of Christian Việt Kiều to their homeland in Vietnam. He shows that although the realities on the ground are more complex and challenging than often assumed, there can be significant ministry for those who return. This is an important contribution to diaspora missiology!”

The Perception of Christianity as a Rational Religion in Singapore

Evangelism & Missions

“In this carefully researched study, Dr. Clive Chin challenges some dominant but misleading assumptions about Asian perceptions of Christianity. Drawing upon significant recent work in the sociology of religion in Asia and his own extensive interviews with young Chinese Singaporean converts to Christianity, Dr. Chin has produced a rich and provocative work that clarifies the agenda for contextualization of Christianity in Asia today.”

The Quran with Christian Commentary

World Religions

“In this landmark study, Dr. Nickel carefully explains the meaning of the text of the Quran for non-Muslim readers. Dr. Nickel is a highly respected authority on the Quran, and his knowledge of its content, historical context, and the history of its interpretation by Muslim commentators is astounding. He writes with a gracious respect for the Quran and for Muslims, but he also raises important questions for thoughtful readers to consider. This is a treasure trove of information and insight, and it will undoubtedly become the standard work on the subject for years to come.”
