A Survey of the Old Testament

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“It is a joy to commend this updated edition of Hill and Walton’s classic textbook to a new generation generation of Old Testament students. Readers will gain insights about the overall purpose and message of each Old Testament book, as well as the most significant issues in the secondary literature—such as historicity, archaeology, and other major interpretive trends. All the while, conservative and critical positions are summarized from an evangelical perspective. Students, pastors, and scholars would do well to keep this book on their short stack of key resources on the Old Testament.”

Delighting in the Old Testament

Christian Living

“While Christians may confess that the first three-quarters of the Bible is ‘breathed out by God’ (2 Tim. 3:16) and bears witness about Jesus (John 5:39), and although they may affirm that it is ‘profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness’ (2 Tim. 3:16), they often find it difficult to discover in it the kinds of life-transforming riches that would lead them to be ‘complete, equipped for every good work’ (2 Tim. 3:17). Put another way, it is one thing to believe that the Old Testament is a bottomless mine of life-transforming gospel gold, and it is quite another to experience its riches as one mines deeply. With Delighting in the Old Testament, Jason DeRouchie has handed us a tool for mining, helped us get started, and given us instructions so that we can dig deeply for the rest of our lives. This book provides a model for Christ-saturated and biblically grounded reading of the Old Testament as Christian Scripture. Church groups and classrooms will be blessed as they learn how to read, see, hope, and live in light of the Christ-centered message of the first three-quarters of the Bible.”

The Goodness of God in the Gift of Scripture

Christian Living

“Uche Anizor has again blessed the church with a book that is simple enough to pass on to a new Christian yet insightful enough to bless the seasoned Christian. By showing readers that Scripture is an expression of God’s goodness that transforms our lives in so many ways, these twenty meditations are a wonderful addition to a Christian’s personal time in Bible reading and prayer, a family’s supper-time oral reading, or a group devoted to study and worship. Who wouldn’t want such gifts as blessedness, freedom from shame, peace, nourishment, life, joy, righteousness, hope—among the many other gifts that come from immersing ourselves in God’s word? Throughout my reading, I found myself captivated by insights I hadn’t noticed before, drawn into worship at the wonder of our great salvation, and thankful for the way this book further stoked my passion for God’s word.”

The Promised Davidic King

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“Convincingly argues that Psalm 108 leads readers to hope in an eschatological Davidic king. I warmly recommend this helpful book.”
