Finding America in Numbers

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“Finding America in Numbers is an original, refreshing, and scholarly examination of the Book of Numbers, drawing a surprisingly direct line from its themes to modern America’s theory of government. In an era when it is fashionable to divorce modern political and societal discourse from its biblical antecedents, Finding America in Numbers is a cogent demonstration of the relevance of the Bible, in general, and the book of Numbers, specifically, to a comprehensive understanding of the underpinnings of our American society. Rabbis Broyde and Travis’s eminently readable survey and analysis of biblical and Talmudic sources is an invaluable resource for understanding the foundations of our modern American society.”
