J. A. Loubser (1949–2006) earned an MA and a doctorate in Theology in New Testament Studies at Stellenbosch University. Loubser previously served as a professor, served in two congregations of the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa, and was a DAAD bursary holder in Tubingen, Germany. Loubser wrote Oral and Manuscript Culture in the Bible (2013).
