Henry Chadwick

History & Biography

“It is no exaggeration to say that this volume's impeccably edited chapters represent 'the very best of the very best' of Anglican patristics scholarship in the present era. Bishops, councils, monastics, liturgy, preaching, exegesis, papacy, ecumenism, and so very much more are all comprised in these over-300 pages of precise writing. Indeed, hardly anyone in the English-speaking world can now presume to write or teach about the early church without consulting the contents of this volume.”

Mary, Mother of God

“Essential reading for all who are interested in the serious theological and devotional renewal of the church.”

The Transfiguration of Christ and Creation

Theology

“John Gatta demonstrates in a masterful way how the Transfiguration, largely ignored by modernist theologians of a secularizing mindset, is in fact an organizing principle that bridges the immanence of this world with the transcendence of that which is to come . . . Firmly rooted in the wisdom of the writers of the early church, the message of this book brings us all the way forward to strikingly modern concerns for the environment, ecology, elevated levels of consciousness, and the transformation of society. Especially noteworthy are the author's calls for enhanced liturgical commemoration of this feast as well as for its recognition as the proper Christian counterpart of Earth Day.”

The Witness of Bartholomew I, Ecumenical Patriarch

History & Biography

“This volume of essays from different perspectives across the ecclesiastical spectrum admirably captures the remarkable significance and accomplishments, as well as the breadth, wisdom, and even spirituality of the present Ecumenical Patriarch. The vision and profundity of thought depicted in these seven chapters offer a model for leaders of other churches that is sorely needed in many quarters today.”

Theosis

Theology

“If one were to seek a single volume constituting an up-to-date and learned coverage of the subject, this is the book.”
