Job

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“Michael Legaspi has written a masterful and beautiful commentary on one the most challenging books of the Bible. Legaspi’s commentary belongs on the shelf of anyone interested in delving deeper into the book of Job. Taking into account the rich Jewish and Christian interpretive traditions on Job, Legaspi walks through the text paying careful attention to every detail. Legaspi’s insightful and close reading of the text of Job reveals Job as a model ascetic, in some ways serving as a guide in the spiritual life through his own spiritual transformation that results from his immense suffering and later encounter with God. Legaspi’s commentary is one of the few that makes sense of the beginning, the lengthy middle, and the end of Job as a coherent spiritual narrative. In the end, we can recognize Job as, in some sense, a type pointing to Jesus, and thus, a point of reference for every Christian as well. Reading Legaspi’s lucid volume will enrich any study of Job, but, more than that, such reading is spiritually edifying. Readers will want to seek the face of God through a prayerful reading of the book of Job. After reading Legaspi, I will never read Job the same way again.”

Kingdom Come

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“For many, 1 and 2 Chronicles remain obscure Old Testament books. Kingdom Come shows that they are supremely important inspired works that not only encapsulate so much of the Old Testament but also teach readers precisely how to interpret the Old Testament. Hahn and Fortenberry show how, far from being unimportant minor works, 1 and 2 Chronicles critically link the Old Testament with the New. Easy to read and chock full of 'aha' moments, you won't want to miss Kingdom Come.”

That We May Be One

Church Leadership & Ministry

“Gary Agee’s That We May Be One is a creative and courageous attempt to work at serious Christian unity. Agee is not naive in his desire for unity; as a Church of God pastor who earned his PhD at a Catholic university, Agee has broad first-hand experience of Christianity’s fractured existence. With his lucid prose and his informative autobiographical anecdotes Agee makes a compelling argument for how we can move forward fruitfully towards a unified Body of Christ. One need not agree with Agee on all of his suggestions in order to benefit greatly from his important contribution. Anyone interested in Christian unity (and disunity) should prayerfully read this book.”
