“David Rosen: physician, psychologist, poet, gardener, is most of all a man who has reached maturity with wisdom and compassion for the earth and its beings. This is evident in poems such as: ‘Distant sawyer . . . / in the garden: / artichokes & roses.’ Human endeavor splinters reality and opens a chasm between itself and nature’s selfless bounty of food and beauty. Thus, in a few insightful words Rosen illustrates the schism that separates man and nature. What more can we ask of a poet?”
