Following Luke

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“’Just tell me the main things I need to know, please, without lots of padding, and in readable form.’ That’s the request that Bill Loader has responded to in the latest book in his Following series on the four Gospels. As always, he meets the brief, working his way through all twenty-four chapters of Luke’s Gospel in just 200 very readable pages. For each passage he offers his own lively original translation of a passage (‘Listening to Luke’), a careful and concise reflection on that passage (‘Thinking About Luke’), and a focus question to ponder or discuss. The book is in an accessible format, written in Loader’s inimitable conversational style, yet touching on so many important technical issues of interpretation. Preachers will find much in this book to equip them in their important task.”

Following Mark

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“Bill Loader always writes with an open, inviting style that encourages thoughtful engagement with the biblical text. This short book is no exception. The pages brim with lucid explanations, vivid images, and provocative questions. Loader’s own translation of Mark that is included is peppered with some wonderful turns of phrase that reflect how Australian ears hear the stories about Jesus. This book will help many as they read Mark’s Gospel.”
