Theology Inspiring Doxology—The Hymnody of Anne Dutton and Anne Steele

Preaching & Worship

“In this work, Holly Farrow retrieves the hymns of Anne Dutton and Anne Steele so that they may be read, studied, and sung again today. Through a comparison of their distinct vocabularies, she shows us how biblically saturated lyric poetry encourages more robust expressions of praise. This volume, which includes the complete published hymn texts of both Dutton and Steele, will be an invaluable resource for song writers, scholars, and historically informed worship leaders.”

Worship, Music, and Interpretation

Preaching & Worship

“Porter’s Worship, Music, and Interpretation brings together thirty years of scholarship. Her essays—which address music and texts set to music from Old Testament times to the twenty-first century—draw attention to the complex diversity of Christian musical expression while highlighting continuous functions of “contemporary” composers of every generation. Highly recommended!”
