Genesis

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“David Petersen presents a fresh and methodologically diverse approach to the book of Genesis. His commentary is informed by recent developments in the study of the Pentateuch and provides an accessible way to read Genesis, not only as a prologue to the Moses story but also as a book in its own right. A more-than-timely replacement of Gerhard von Rad’s predecessor volume in the Old Testament Library!”

Hidden Riches

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“This is a most helpful resource for the study of the Bible in its ancient Near Eastern context, since it not only provides the most relevant comparative material, but also critically assesses it and its biblical counterparts. Hays’s specialization in both biblical studies and ancient Near Eastern studies has yielded a thorough and reliable tool for students and teachers alike.”

Living in Different Worlds Simultaneously

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“A wonderful volume, bringing together Western and African scholarship in biblical exegesis, reception history, and hermeneutics. The contributions honor Louis Jonker, a globally renowned South African Bible scholar who has devoted his academic life to integrating these areas into the cultural contexts from which they emerged.”

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“This book offers a welcome, well-written and up-to-date synthesis of current research on the first five books of the Bible, covering all the major sub-fields of scholarship on the Pentateuch. It will serve as a valuable tool for both students and scholars.”

Voices from the Ruins

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“The fall of Jerusalem is the pivotal event in the history of ancient Judah. It triggered a plethora of theological interpretations that influenced the formation of the Hebrew Bible. In this wide-ranging study, Dalit Rom-Shiloni vividly and meticulously describes different biblical approaches to theodicy and develops a descriptive theology of Hebrew Bible texts from the sixth century BCE.”
