Leon J. Wood (1918–1977) studied at Calvin Theological Seminary, New York University, the Oriental Institute, and Michigan State University, where Wood earned a Ph.D. Wood previously served as professor of Old Testament Studies and Dean at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. Wood's books include Elijah (2009), The Prophets of Israel (1998), and A Shorter Commentary on Genesis (1998).
