“Katabasis, the journey below!--taken by Gilgamesh, Aeneas with his Golden Bough, Dante, Alice tumbling down her rabbit hole. Often a 'magical helper' is found along the way and wisdom is learned in the depths. In Chris Erdman's lyrical tale, a once-abused child, now a man, takes this ancient journey into the roots of the psyche (illustrated with Zen-like drawings), learning--as we all must learn in times of deep despair--that there is a way forward.”
