A Pauline Theology of Justification
Theology
“What a welcome and wonderful contribution Prothro has offered us! His work has relevance, not only for ecumenical dialogue, but much more broadly for the reception of Paul and his message for our time. This work abounds in thoughtful, provocative, and often persuasive judgments, from which all readers will profit. Even for one who finds the totality of faith in Christ and the totality of Christ in faith, this work is instructive and valuable.”

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

The commentary with its detailed exploration of the texts of Scripture behind the text of Romans is a rich resource that will benefit many.”

“Randall Tan’s close reading of the structure of Paul’s argument in Galatians provides numerous tips for understanding the letter. His work is a welcome and useful contribution.”
Paul and the Economy of Salvation
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Born of serious listening to the text, lengthy reflection, and extensive engagement with other interpreters, Brendan Byrne's fresh assessment of Paul as an apocalyptic theologian offers us a significant gift. In a time when Paul's announcement of a final judgment threatens to disappear from even conservative readings of Scripture, Byrne provides a healthy and much-needed corrective. His careful reading of Paul might well provide the basis for fruitful ecumenical dialogue concerning the work of Christ, the gift of the Spirit, and the salvation of the human being. For these reasons and more, this work undoubtedly will win a wide hearing.”
Promising Faith for a Ruptured Age
Theology
“This celebratory volume for Oswald Bayer on the occasion of his eightieth birthday is nothing other than a garden, fragrant and rich with flowers that have grown up in the reception of Bayer’s work. It is a true celebration of Lutheran theology in engagement with contemporary questions. Anyone searching for the leading edge of Lutheran thought will find it remarkably well represented here. This book is not just for Lutherans. Take up and read!”
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Well-written, well-argued, well-engaged with recent discussion, Hyun-Gwang Kim’s work is a significant and welcome contribution. It calls into question current story-of-Israel interpretations of Paul and at the same time provides a pathway for fresh consideration of Paul’s own very Jewish conception of natural law. This careful and thoughtful work will gain a wide reading. No serious student of Paul can afford to ignore it.”
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“This volume is a remarkable synthesis of Stanley Porter's extensive work on the background, setting, and content of Paul's letters. Making it clear that historical investigation still counts, Porter addresses a whole array of debates on Paul and his letters with careful and measured judgments. Here is an in-depth introduction to Paul from which both a beginning student and an advanced scholar can profit.”
