Rembrandt Is in the Wind

Arts & Literature

“Russ Ramsey helps us see some of the wonders seen and painted by great artists of the past. This book is full of surprises. What he offers is never a matter of beauty for its own sake, although we are drawn into a glorious journey of beauty through the ages; nor is it one of artistic skills and accomplishments, although every artist he focuses on could claim to have mastered their art; nor can this book be distilled into a mere fascinating overview of five centuries of human creativity, even though the stories told provide a superb entry point to the novice. The greatest joy of this book is that the accumulative effect of these nine artists helped me glimpse something of the world and of humanity as God our creator sees us. What a gift that is!”

Stott on the Christian Life

History & Biography

“John Stott was, of course, an inspiring leader and Christian disciple. But what made his legacy so powerful was that he was also a master of the distilled theological summary, the result of his deep wrestling with the Scriptures. His crystal clarity was always hard-won. Tim Chester has achieved the almost impossible by distilling a lifetime’s ministry into a highly accessible and, above all, heartwarming book. We have so much to learn from Stott, and I am confident that this book will open up his legacy for a new generation. I am so grateful for Chester’s work and this book, and I thoroughly recommend it.”

The Contemporary Christian

Ethics, Culture & Social Issues

“Technology has enabled more voices to clamor for our attention than ever before; while at the same time, people's ability to listen carefully seems to have deteriorated like never before. John Stott's speaking and writing was renowned for two things in particular. He taught us how to listen attentively to God in order to live faithfully for God, and he too modeled how to listen to the world sensitively in order to communicate God's purposes intelligibly. He taught us to listen. That is why it is such a thrill to see The Contemporary Christian carefully revived in a new format as this series for a new generation of readers. As we read, may we listen well!”

The Imperfect Pastor

Church Leadership & Ministry

“I wish I’d read this book twenty-five years ago when I first began to consider pastoral ministry. The ground Zack covers is vital for novices and senior pastors alike. He steers us well clear of dangerous ambitions, absurd expectations, and corrosive work patterns. But he does so with wit, self-deprecation, and deeply felt realism. Eswine reignited in me a love for the Perfect Shepherd who has the extraordinary grace to include imperfect shepherds in his kingdom work. This should be on everyone’s must-read list!”
