“Welch’s book is an excellent tool to support both the college instructor and the student. When teaching a literature class, I explore the influences of the time period to provide context for my students as they begin the readings. Welch’s book is an excellent research tool for me as an instructor to capture the context. From the student’s perspective, Welch’s book supports classroom learning and provides greater insight beyond what can be covered in the classroom, resulting in a well-rounded understanding not just of the literature but also of the political, social, and religious influences.”
