The Journey of a Knightly Family

History & Biography

“This study of a gentry family provides a broad perspective of the history of medieval and early modern England. It brings out the changing character of knighthood over the period, showing how service in local administration, together with successful marriages, provided the key to survival and success for this family, rather than any chivalric triumphs. It is much more than a work of family history, providing as it does an examination of multiple aspects of the period.”
