Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“This is a work of scholarship for the church, for the very same community to whom the writings of John were first addressed. Under Bennett’s careful and incisive guidance the church of today will be helped to read John’s letters with ears tuned to the Word of God. Bennett helps us to explore the theological questions that John himself explores and so offers rich resources and encouragement to the church to be what it is called to be: the proclaimer in word and deed of the message of salvation.”
A Systematic Theology from East Asia
Theology
Foreword
“As a Chinese Singaporean who has studied within the Western theological academy and who traverses both Western and East Asian conceptual worlds, Edmond Chua is an astute guide to the theology of Jung Young Lee. He offers both a clear explanation of Lee’s theological project and a perceptive analysis of the ways in which Lee’s Trinitarian theology departs from and challenges Western theological thinking. I am pleased to commend this book.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“Christopher Marshall’s expertise as a New Testament scholar, public theologian, and pioneering advocate of restorative justice, is abundantly evident in this wonderful collection of essays. Marshall guides us toward a more faithful reading of scripture and to a more courageous participation in the peace and justice of God. There is great wisdom here.”
Theology
“References to Dostoevsky in Barth's work, while occasionally noted, have never been explored in depth. Paul Brazier corrects that oversight and provides us with a meticulous and fascinating account of Dostoevsky's impact upon Barth's early theology, especially his theology of sin and grace.”
C.S. Lewis—The Work of Christ Revealed
Theology
“"In this rigorous and searching study of the theology of C. S. Lewis, Paul Brazier locates Lewis within the wider context of theological scholarship and shows him to be a theologian to be reckoned with in his own right, rather than simply a popularizer of Christian faith. This most welcome volume in a proposed three-volume series will surely prove invaluable in the assessment of Lewis's legacy.”

Culture in a Post-Secular Context
Theology
“Theologians and missiologists should make it their business to think theologically about what culture is rather than adopting uncritically the definitions thrown up from other fields of inquiry. Here is a book that provides compelling and far-reaching guidance for that task and helps us recognize how important the task is.”
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“In this volume Thiselton demonstrates once more the erudition, clarity of expression, and rich insight that have characterized the whole of his academic career.”
Emerging Theologies from the Global South
Theology
“This may be one of the most important theological books of our time. It is important because Christian faith and theology are being nourished and renewed today by vibrant and growing churches in the Global South. The essays in this volume are far from uniform in their theological vision, but they draw to our attention the urgency and the vitality of theological inquiry around the world.”
Theology
“Lee Barrett has done a great service to the scholarly community in providing this study of the relationship between Augustine and Kierkegaard. His attention to the pastoral purpose of their respective writings has yielded a theologically astute and wonderfully insightful account of the commonalities and divergences between these two great thinkers. Readers of Augustine and of Kierkegaard will surely benefit from Barrett?s study, but so too will anyone interested in what the Christian journey of faith involves.”
Essentials of Christian Theology
Theology
“Critical engagement with theological texts such as are assembled here is a considerable skill that develops alongside a growing understanding of the subject-matter of theology itself. Placher and his team of essayists have provided students with a resource that, under the guidance of good teachers, will serve well in the development of such skill and understanding.”
Theology
“This work by Andrew W. Nicol is very welcome, not only because Robert Jenson is one of the most eloquent and stimulating theological thinkers of our age but also because the place of Israel in Christian theology is a theme of tremendous importance that has not been given sufficient attention. Nicol's study provides us with a rich and learned exploration of Jenson's theology and helps us to think in fresh ways about what it means to have faith in the God of Israel.”
Theology
“This book offers a perceptive account of Campbell's theology as illuminated by his largely neglected sermons, and traces the early influences upon his career. It is sure to become a standard resource.”
Philosophy
“Although the works of Kierkegaard are widely studied by scholars in the academy, Kierkegaard himself was much more interested in speaking to 'ordinary' people, whose company he certainly preferred to that of professors who specialized in obscuring the true nature of Jesus' call to discipleship. With this book, Mark Tietjen succeeds in making Kierkegaard accessible to the people whom Kierkegaard cared about most, those who have an interest in Christianity precisely because they really do want to know what being a follower of Christ entails. Tietjen's work is an excellent guide to one of the most challenging and most profound thinkers of the Christian tradition.”
Arts & Literature
“Jennifer Craft offers a profound exploration of how art may help us adjust the ways in which we see and inhabit places, and so live in God's world with greater sensitivity, faithfulness, and love. This engaging book is a rich contribution to the growing conversation about theology and place.”
