Arts & Literature
“This is a much-needed Christian introduction to the classical pagan sources that largely framed the Mediterranean culture in which Paul and other apostles proclaimed the gospel of redemption. The argument of this book would have been obvious to the church fathers, nearly all of whom were thoroughly familiar with the ancient literature that the author recommends to our study.”
Christian Living
“I am delighted to recommend this fascinating account of an unusually interesting life. This is more than an autobiography, however. Indeed, the details of the author’s life—told with great color and conviction—serve as the opportunities to insert deeper reflections on the significance of God’s blessing on her life and ministry. I am very glad Leanne Payne did us all the kindness of writing this book. It reveals some otherwise concealed personal dimensions of her other writings. Long associated with the religious movements chronicled in this book, I particularly appreciate Leanne’s keen, critical discernment concerning their history. The richness and variety of her interests and reading is simply bewildering. For example, how many ‘renewal’ Christians have studied the works of Josef Pieper? Leanne has!”
Theology
“In Lifted by Angels Joel Miller examines traditional Jewish and Christian angelology in rich and extensive detail. Especially valuable and inspiring are the author’s numerous citations of beautiful patristic texts. No one will think of angels in the same way after reading this book. It is highly recommended and without reservation.”

“Lectio divina, despite its centuries-long use, is still little known outside of monastic and academic settings. Ancient-Future Bible Study, a project that does great credit to Brazos Press, has in mind to correct that historical defect in Christian piety.”

“Dr. Russell Moore’s new book, one of the practical I have seen in a long time, is an excellent manual of how to recognize and deal with temptation. Its prose is engaging, its biblical support sold, its illustrations lively and consistently to the point.”
Theology
“Bryan M. Litfin’s exhaustive new study of the history of the Nicene Council and its creed, a study I highly recommend, appropriately appears on the 1,700th anniversary of that council. How encouraging to observe such a rigorous study from a well-known evangelical theologian!”
Preaching & Worship
“Drawing from sources of imposing breadth, especially in patristic literature, Genig recovers in this rich study the unity of Scripture and sacrament characteristic of the magisterial Reformers. Its appeal should be equally broad. Indeed, it is difficult to think of any Christian reader who would not profit from this book’s alliance of textual scholarship with the search for spiritual nourishment.”
