Philip Schaff

Biography

Philip Schaff (1819–1893) studied at the gymnasium of Stuttgart and at the universities of Tuebingen, Halle, and Berlin. Schaff previously served as Professor of Church History and Biblical Literature at the German Reformed Theological Seminary of Mercersburg in Pennsylvania, and later as a professor at Union Theological Seminary. Schaff wrote Creed Revision in the Presbyterian Churches; Second Edition Enlarged and edited the series A Select Library of the Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers of the Christian Church, Second Series.
