Religion and Reality

Philosophy

“This book addresses the problem of conflicting religious truth claims in an increasingly secular and pluralistic world. Iammarino provides a convincing theoretical argument that uses pluralistic metaphysics to account for the reality in which we live. This is a reality that has emerged out of a complex web of interconnections and mutually supporting relationships. . . . Although his argument is sophisticated, Iammarino takes the reader through complicated ideas and propositions in a readable, step-by-step manner.”

Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz

History & Biography

“Theresa Yugar's imaginative reconstruction of the life of Sor Juana de la Cruz locates the seventeenth-century scholar within the framework of liberation theology and ecofeminism. She demonstrates the ways that communities of women with whom the writer lived influenced Sor Juana's thinking about patriarchy and hierarchy. Further, she shows how natural disasters shaped the nun's views about the environment. Yugar therefore enlarges and expands our understanding of the significance of Sor Juana de la Cruz, taking scholarly considerations of this figure in new directions.”
