Christian Living
“This is a delightful little book about a very important topic: finding 'rest,' a biblical kind of rest found only in trusting, worshiping, and serving God. The author combines serious study of Genesis 1 and related passages of Scripture with wonderful stories from her life and family that illustrate it magnificently. She has a special gift of reading the Bible in its ancient cultural context and explaining it in an understandable way. This volume is well researched and well written. I found it to be not only a joy to read, but a deeply impactful application of the truth of Scripture for the daily lives of people.”
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“This is an important book. Clayton combines careful analysis of the literary, historical, and theological dimensions of 1 Chronicles to analyze David’s assignment of duties to the Levites in the anticipated Solomonic temple as recorded there. . . . He shows that there is good reason to believe that 1 Chronicles is historically credible from a preexilic Davidic perspective and, in fact, would have been especially relevant to postexilic Israel as they organized the priestly and Levitical ministry in the second temple.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“This is a very discerning book written by a scholar with longstanding interest and serious previous work in the field of immigration/migration. Markus Zehnder has managed to sort out the various biblical, social, and ethical issues raised in the complex discussion of immigration and migration today. He distinguishes between justice and compassion for those immigrants who have been admitted as opposed to public policies that require open admission at the borders. The Bible supports the former, but not the latter. Zehnder pushes back against the selective use of Scripture used by many to support their position without serious consideration of all that the Bible teaches on the matter in its ancient context. This is a badly needed and important contribution the discussion of the immigration issues we are facing today in the USA and around the world.”

Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“'This is a unique and important commentary. It is a milestone in the collection and comparative interpretation of ancient Near Eastern texts, pictures, and other archaeological materials as well as geographical, historical, and cultural information as they relate to the Old Testament. There is nothing else like it available today. The interpretations provided are usually cogent and convincing. Where there is legitimate debate, the explanations generally show due caution. There will always be disagreements between scholars on such matters, but the many comparative and archaeological resources assembled in these volumes make it a veritable gold mine for those who desire to take the ancient context of the Lord's work and word seriously in their study, teaching, and preaching of Holy Scripture.'”
