“Carl McColman gives you much wise direction and broad understanding of the field of contemplative theory and practice. Here is your teacher!”
History & Biography
“This excellent and inspiring book helps us to see that real conversion is not limited to any one group, religion, denomination, or vocabulary. God compassionately works with each soul according to its need - and, as you will see, works wonderfully!”
Arts & Literature
“We Franciscans considered creation itself 'The Big Book' and the later Bible 'The Little Book.' We were told if we did not honor the first book, we would undoubtedly dishonor the second one too. I am afraid that is largely what happened, but here are some very fine voices to help something new happen--and hopefully happen very soon!”
Bible Studies & Devotionals
“I met Juanita Campbell Rasmus while she cofacilitated a men's spiritual retreat at the Center for Action and Contemplation. I walked into the session and was simply amazed by the presence of the Spirit in her. She's a One no doubt, but she's so much more!”

“Men are rediscovering poetry if it speaks to their honest experience, people are rediscovering poetry when it is accessible and evocative. Well, here it is-for your discovery and enlightenment!”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Few people have the rare combination of experience, courage, research skills, and humility to say all that Wes offers us here. He is sure to console everybody and upset a few folks too. Among many other good things, he recognizes what our individualistic society no longer does. We need to be involved in mediating, mid-level institutions, to make any sustained difference in our world. The lone person might feel enlightened and holy, but they have limited effect on those around him–until they connect. Keep us connecting, Wes!”
Prayer & Spiritual Formation
“There is a way of pushing the needed panic button with mere panic, and there is a way of pushing it with wisdom, scholarship, and compassion. We are blessed to have an excellent example of the latter here! Robert Shore-Goss is not preaching to the choir here but to anyone with a head, concern for the future, and even a bit of soul!”
Arts & Literature
“If poetry is the art of the indirect, the undefended doorway into deeper consciousness, then Drew Jackson is a wonderful new teacher on the scene! Seldom have I read such direct insight into spiritual moments and spiritual matters . . . . I am already eager to see and hear more!”
Christian Living
“This is how the Gospel must hit the ground — running! God’s Economy is very brilliant, very timely, and very readable at the same time. This is practical theology and spirituality at its best!”
Prayer & Spiritual Formation
“Today we need very practical but wise guidance for our journey of faith and love, and not more rarefied theology. Well, here you have just that, and from someone who is walking the journey himself--maybe a few steps ahead of you! Spiritual direction like this is surely one of the best ways that the Spirit will mature Christianity in our time.”

How Western Christianity Got It Wrong
Theology
“Randy Woodley is a trustworthy prophetic voice teaching the harmonious wisdom of Indigenous peoples and the way of Jesus. How Western Christianity Got It Wrong gives us a much-needed healing vision for the future by looking honestly at Christianity's past, problems, patterns, and possibilities.”
“These folks are bringing things both old and new out of the great Christian storehouse! The New Monasticism is discovering what is always rediscovered--and always bears great life for the Gospel.”
Preaching & Worship
Foreword
“As I read each powerful meditation and perfectly connected psalm, I experienced the healing power that contact with big truth will always give. This was not the sentimentalized Good Friday 'seven last words' that I had grown up with, but a full body blow of contact with reality. Making use of the biblical scholarship and sharp insight that we have all come to expect from him, Walter Brueggemann then goes further. He reveals an amazing awareness of human suffering, family, relationships, despair, hard-won faith, and personal grief that the crucifixion accounts beautifully and subtly reveal.”
“It takes a ‘human one’ to write well about the consummate ‘Human One,’ Jesus. And James Martin does that very well! Come to see, and be seen by, the one who has loved so many of us into life.”
Philosophy
“We in religion concentrate so much on what we know for certain, but there has always been too little self critique about 'How do we know what we think we know?' This clear and well-written book is both very honest and very helpful on the subject. No one will lose their faith here--perhaps many will find it for the first time! I am happy someone has written this much-needed book, and I hope it is used in classrooms, by many seekers, and in the churches.”
Women
“'Finally, the body is getting its due as the normal and gifted vehicle for Spirit! It has taken us a long time to realize the Christian obvious, and Tricia Gates Brown is making it both more obvious and thoroughly Christian.'”
Jesus, My Father, The CIA, and Me
History & Biography
“Ian Cron has the gift of making his human journey a parable for all of our journeys. Read this profound book and be well fed, and freed.”

Learning from Henri Nouwen and Vincent van Gogh
Christian Living
“Carol Berry's deep knowledge of Vincent van Gogh, facilitated early on by her friendship with Henri Nouwen, helps us better connect our own suffering and the suffering of others to a more compassionate way of life. Carol invites us to move into the realm of mystery and grace as she underscores the humility and humanity of both men whose ultimate concern was to live practically and lovingly using Jesus as their guide and model. Carol Berry weaves together the lives of these two great Dutch spiritual masters and then offers wonder-filled personal experiences of compassion. For Carol, Henri and Vincent are two wounded healers of the world. They are true brothers able in their own unique but powerfully connected way to heal so many—even now. Carol Berry's book is an inspiration.”
