Theology
“In this highly provocative and skillfully crafted work, Charlie Pinches speaks to one of the most pressing problems of our postmodern world--the loss of memory. The solution offered in 'A Gathering of Memories' will leave you with a fresh appreciation of how the Christian faith speaks cogently to the recovery of memory for the healing of the family, nation, and church, as well as the recovery of our baptismal life.”
Christ, Baptism and the Lord's Supper
Preaching & Worship
“The new attitude given to baptism and the Lord's Supper among evangelicals is a positive sign of the deepening of evangelical faith and worship. Christ, Baptism and the Lord's Supper is an important contribution to the current trend toward sacramental thinking because it is rooted in tradition and applied to the health of the present church. More than a study, it is a guide for thoughtful action.”
Christian Living
“Chuck Kraft takes us down the path of his own experience and helps us identify the cultural impediments that prevent us from experiencing the fullness of the faith. But more than that, he wisely guides us to principles of faith that will help us to rediscover the power of Christ in our practice of the faith.”
Christian Living
“Stanley Grenz restores the balance between thought and action, individual and community, head and heart, reason and experience in this splendid and readable work.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“The new interest in the missional church has been in need of a practical, hands-on blueprint for action. Here it is!”
How to Read the Bible to Hear God Speak
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“…A wonderful excerise in learning how to listen to God out of God’s whole story. In a day when the church is listening once again to the whole story, the compelling guidelines offered by Seerveld are most welcome!”
Is 9/11 a Call to Heal America?
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“It is indeed a privilege for me to endorse Dr. Ralph Rowe's Book. My wife and I both have read it, and consider it to be outstanding!! It is thoroughly researched, well written, and well-documented.”
Christian Living
“In this stimulating work, Gregory Boyd shows how an incarnational theology focuses on God's action in Jesus Christ as the source for our knowledge of God. In Jesus we see what God does for us, how God loves us, how God feels for us and how God rescues creatures and creation. This work restores an ancient view of Christianity that emphasizes the freedom we have to enter into a joyous relationship with God--a worldview of hope for all of humanity.”
The Reading and Preaching of the Scriptures in the Worship of the Christian Church, Volume 4
Preaching & Worship
“I consider this series by Old to be most timely. The current unfortunate trend to dumb down worship with less Scripture and with popular topical sermons needs the corrective offered in this comprehensive and readable work.”
Theological Notebook: Volume 5: 1993–2010
Theology
“A treasure of thought-provoking, spiritually stimulating, humorous, and engaging comments! . . . Bloesch comes alive in a new way.”
Three Views on Eastern Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism
Theology
“who are we?” will find the arguments for and against an evangelical association with Eastern Orthodoxy to be thorough and compelling. While an answer is not forthcoming, the questions raised will lead evangelicals into deeper and fruitful paths of discussion and action.”
Discipleship & Christian Education
“While Transforming Discipleship is packed full with good, useful, biblical insights, the two unique features that especially connect with discipleship in a postmodern world are the concepts of triad discipleship and the shift from the hierarchical and authoritative models that dominated discipleship in modernity to 'discipling as a mutual process of peer mentoring.' This work is more biblical and more compelling than anything I have seen to date.”
Preaching & Worship
“I am particularly attracted to the theological development of continuous outpouring. That the triune God continually outpours toward creatures and creation, and we to him, breaks new ground. It challenges convention and makes us approach worship and artistic expression with new eyes.”
Who's Afraid of Postmodernism?
Theology
“I find Who's Afraid of Postmodernism? to be stunningly clear. Smith's writing is not an argument whose logic you must follow but a narrative that opens windows. I continually found myself saying 'Well, of course, why didn't I see that before? It's so obvious.' Smith helps us understand why postmodernism sets the stage for the restoration of the ancient faith.”
