A Narnian Vision of the Atonement
Theology
“Charles Taliaferro is well known for handling heavy topics with a light touch. In this illuminating book he explores one of the knottiest problems in Christian doctrine by drawing on both philosophy and fairytales to enhance our understanding of the atonement. The enthusiasm and joy which he brings to this task is infectious.”

“"There are undoubtedly too many books published on C. S. Lewis and his friends, so why yet another? In this case, four very good reasons indeed: the caliber of the contributors, the quality of the chapters, the range of figures considered, and--perhaps most of all--the consistent and insistent thematic focus on how imagination and reason interact within the life of faith. This book is thus of interest for its theme as much as for its topic. Highly recommended!”

“This unique and essential volume provides a fitting tribute to C. S. Lewis on the fiftieth anniversary of his death, including the actual proceedings of the historic event at Westminster Abbey, as well as suitably wide-ranging engagements with his remarkable achievements as scholar, theologian, apologist, poet, and imaginative writer.”

“C. S. Lewis is well known for taking his readers on fantastic journeys to other planets like Mars and Venus, other universes like Narnia and Charn, and even to Heaven and Hell. John Gatta shows us that an important motivation behind Lewis’s otherworldly imagination was a deep concern for protecting the health of the plants, animals, and landscapes of Earth. Readers of Lewis are thus encouraged to embrace his own incarnational eco-theological vision and inhabit this planet accordingly.”
World Religions
“What is the ‘end’ of apologetics—defeat or conversion? Myron B. Penner’s provocative critique of the ‘rhetorical violence’ of the ‘apologetics industry’ needs to be heard especially by apologists, as does his radically alternative model of ‘edifying prophetic witness’—a witness that calls for conversation rather than debate and for Christians to embody the truth they profess in their lives rather than merely prove propositions through their arguments.”
Counseling, Grief & Mental Health
“This unusually personal volume is by turns painful, insightful, and disturbing, even occasionally beautiful and humorous, illuminating the dark corners of addiction and mental illness by skillfully interweaving the journals of an acute sufferer with the commentary of a compassionate observer--an observer who is also a distinguished historian and thinker. Deliberately avoiding neat lessons and pat answers, Margaret R. Miles nevertheless ensures that, through sharing her brother's story, his intense pain is not wasted.”
