Trinitarian Doxology

Preaching & Worship

“There is general agreement that worship is for God, and the purpose of worship services is to glorify God and gratefully remember all that God has done for us. But many continue to view worship simplistically as something that people do to honor God. Missing from this common attitude are the deeper and richer trinitarian dimensions of worship that Scottish theologians Thomas and James Torrance highlighted throughout their many writings. Navarro helpfully presents the worship theology of the Torrances against the background of their distinctive trinitarian theology, making their positions much clearer and more understandable. Along the way, Navarro also addresses several misperceptions and distortions of the Torrances’ views and points out the practical significance of their liturgical theology for our understanding and practice of worship. Students of the Torrances and all who care about our understanding of worship will find much to reflect upon and much to rejoice about.”
