Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“If you care about peace and justice in the land where Jesus lived and died, then read this excellent collection of thoughtful, probing essays from a wide range of viewpoints. The writers are scholars, pastors, activists, theologians, all struggling--from their vigorously different perspectives!--to be faithful to the Prince of Peace. A good read that will leave you much better equipped to understand all sides and therefore work more effectively for just reconciliation in the Holy Land.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“An excellent book that meets an urgent need. In recent decades, evangelicals have greatly expanded their concern for the poor and oppressed. To a large extent, however, we have not understood how advocacy for improved public policies could produce important change in the lives of the poor. This very readable, solidly biblical book shows us how to do that. Every Christian should read it.”
Church Leadership & Ministry
“Superb. Disturbing. Challenging. Radical because it is biblical. Being Church is an extremely well-written, theologically profound but easily understood presentation of a hugely important truth: almost everything depends on recovering the revolutionary reality of genuine Christian community. A must-read.”
Christian Living
“Hardly anything is more urgent today than that the church heed the call to abandon cheap grace and embrace costly, biblical discipleship.”
Christian Living
“This book promotes biblical balance in every chapter. It offers an excellent, readable, orthodox, winsome presentation of Christianity. If even a quarter of our churches were living the kind of biblically balanced faith presented here, unbelievers would be knocking at our doors. A must-read.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“Few international issues are more urgent than a just settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. And few issues divide evangelicals so severely. This is an important book where key evangelical scholars with differing views dialogue respectfully and carefully about central disagreements. The result clarifies difficult, complex issues and points the way toward a just solution.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“Consistently Pro-Life presents a well-argued, well-documented case for the view that the early church before Constantine opposed all killing of human beings. It also clearly connects the thinking of the early church with our contemporary debates about abortion, capital punishment, and war. Just War advocates will object at some points, but Arner provides data and a thesis that cannot be ignored.”
Theology
“A ringing call to white Evangelicals to understand and abandon their cultural captivity. One need not embrace every argument to see that the basic message of this book is important and urgent.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“An excellent introduction to the most urgent contemporary ethical issues. Discerning Ethics demonstrates methodological sophistication, honest discussion of divergent views, and a solid biblical commitment. Highly recommended!”

Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“An important contribution to an increasingly vigorous dialogue on the implications for Christians of Jesus' command to love our enemies. Rigorous theology and powerful personal stories combine to create a substantial addition to evangelical peacemaking.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“A superb integration of biblical faith and community organizing. This book is both an excellent manual and a vast feast of delightful, empowering stories. A must-read for anyone interested in empowering people to work for justice.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“Getting in the Way recounts thrilling stories about one of the most exciting and important recent developments in nonviolent peacemaking. Even tiny numbers of Christian Peacemaker Teams have demonstrated dramatic effectiveness. Think of the impact if the Christian church would train and deploy thousands of courageous peacemakers using the effective strategies of the brave pioneers described in Getting in the Way.”
Christian Living
“This book is full of piercing questions that every serious follower of Jesus must ask. And its answers ref lect a breathtaking vision and radical call to action.”
Evangelism & Missions
“All around the world, more and more biblical Christians have embraced holistic mission which combines word and deed, evangelism and social action. The task now is to discover how best to do holistic ministry. This collection of stories of (and reflection on) holistic ministry in Africa is a helpful addition to our growing understanding.”
Christian Living
“Urgent, compelling, readable. An important book on a crucial topic. Monsma's entire life-as a successful politician and a gifted professor of political science-has prepared him to write this clear, compelling book. Every Christian with any interest in politics should read it.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“A powerful, passionate plea to American Christians to follow Jesus rather than conform to a broken culture. . . . Biblical, urgent, provocative. A must-read.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“An urgent, biblically grounded summons to Christians to end the tragedy of contemporary poverty in America. Everett uses gripping personal stories to show both the wrenching agony of that poverty and also how it is quite possible to dramatically reduce it. Biblical. Factual. Practical. Engaging.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“In these essays, we observe the careful reflection of a brilliant scholar who is one of the best contemporary Christian ethicists. An evangelical who did his doctoral work at liberal Union Theological Seminary, a Baptist who engages the whole church, a sophisticated scholar who also knows how to write for a popular audience, Gushee is significantly influencing the church today. These stimulating essays demonstrate how he creatively impacts every topic he tackles. Highly recommended.”
History & Biography
“With both personal testimony and historical analysis, Mennocostals demonstrates not only that Mennonites and Pentecostals have often interacted in the past, but also that much greater future cross-fertilization would be very productive and significant for both groups. This book will nurture that highly desirable future.”
